Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Qualcomm Adreno GPU driver (drm/msm). Improper error handling during device initialization in the a4xx_gpu_init() function causes the driver to return an invalid status code upon failure. A local user can exploit this issue during hardware initialization, triggering a kernel crash and resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having a Low severity impact for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because exploitation requires physical Qualcomm Adreno GPU hardware and local access, which is absent in standard enterprise server environments. The issue stems from an incorrect return value during graphics controller initialization that can trigger a kernel oops, causing a denial of service if initialization fails. Because enterprise systems typically do not run on this architecture or enable these graphics drivers, standard installations are not exposed under normal operating conditions.
