Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) irdma driver. When a communication queue enters an error state, software-generated completion notifications for outstanding requests on the send queue are routed to the wrong completion queue. A local user can trigger this issue during queue drain operations, causing kernel tasks to wait indefinitely for completion and leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having a Low severity impact because exploitation requires access to systems equipped with specialized Intel RDMA hardware and active irdma driver configurations. The flaw manifests when send queue drain routines hang waiting for completion events after queue error handling misdirects notifications. Because the impact is restricted to a denial of service on targeted hardware without compromising system confidentiality or integrity, the overall risk to Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments is low.
