Description
A user after-free vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel in the refcount_t variable when performing the controller reset. This issue could lead to denial of service of the system.
Statement
Red Hat rates this vulnerability as having a Moderate security impact because it is restricted to local environments and requires systems configured with specific Broadcom/LSI SAS host bus adapters. Triggering the underlying reference count flaw requires initiating a controller reset, an operation generally restricted to privileged users or abnormal hardware events. Consequently, unprivileged remote exploitation is not possible, and the blast radius is confined to local denial of service on systems utilizing this specific SCSI driver.
