Description
A use-after-free vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel. It is possible for perf_pending_task() to run after the event is free, resulting in a loss of system availability.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity because exploitation is restricted to authenticated local users with elevated privileges, preventing remote compromise. The flaw stems from improper lifecycle management during performance event cleanup, which can lead to a kernel crash and denial of service. In default Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, access to performance monitoring interfaces is restricted, significantly reducing the likelihood of unauthorized exploitation.
CVSS score applicability
