Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/amd/display: Fix memory leak
[why] Resource release is needed on the error handling path to prevent memory leak.
[how] Fix this by adding kfree on the error handling path.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity because it requires local access and systems equipped with AMD graphics hardware, limiting the blast radius to kernel resource exhaustion rather than arbitrary code execution or privilege escalation. A failure to release allocated resources on error handling paths within the amdgpu display driver allows memory to leak over repeated triggers. Enterprise deployments operating in headless environments or utilizing alternative display hardware remain unaffected under standard configurations.
