Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
uaccess: fix integer overflow on access_ok()
Three architectures check the end of a user access against the address limit without taking a possible overflow into account. Passing a negative length or another overflow in here returns success when it should not.
Use the most common correct implementation here, which optimizes for a constant 'size' argument, and turns the common case into a single comparison.
Statement
This vulnerability presents no operational risk to Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments because the flaw is confined to specific CPU architectures—namely CSKY, Hexagon, and MicroBlaze—that are not supported or built in Red Hat kernels. The issue involves inadequate bounds validation where an integer overflow could improperly permit access to kernel memory during user-space boundary checks. Because Red Hat does not ship or support the affected architectures, supported enterprise releases are not affected.
Mitigation
No mitigation is specified in collected source.
