Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

NFSv4: Fix free of uninitialized nfs4_label on referral lookup.

Send along the already-allocated fattr along with nfs4_fs_locations, and drop the memcpy of fattr. We end up growing two more allocations, but this fixes up a crash as:

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as a Moderate impact because exploitation is restricted to causing a denial of service through a kernel crash, without permitting unauthorized privilege escalation or data compromise. The issue specifically targets systems operating as NFSv4 clients that encounter filesystem referrals, which requires a non-default storage topology involving junction points. A local user navigating into an affected referral mount point can trigger an uninitialized memory cleanup, resulting in an immediate system panic.
