Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s pstore persistent storage subsystem when using the ram backend. Under certain conditions, accessing /proc/kcore on systems with pstore ram backend could trigger a kernel oops due to improper memory access. The code assumed that pages mapped with vmap() were directly addressable through kmap_atomic(), which is not guaranteed on all configurations. This assumption could result in an invalid memory access and system fault. An unprivileged local user with access to /proc/kcore may be able to induce this condition and destabilize the kernel.
