Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU (amdgpu) driver. During the driver unload process, improper handling in the video memory management subsystem causes an internal kernel assertion failure. A local user can trigger this issue to cause a system crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is classified as having Moderate impact because exploiting it requires local administrative access or specific hardware conditions to unload the driver, limiting the blast radius to a local denial of service. The flaw occurs due to improper video memory tracking during the module teardown process, causing a kernel panic when the driver is removed. Systems lacking AMD graphics hardware or environments where kernel module unloading is restricted are not exposed to this issue during standard operations.
