Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

cifs: Fix warning and UAF when destroy the MR list

If the MR allocate failed, the MR recovery work not initialized and list not cleared. Then will be warning and UAF when release the MR:

Let's initialize the MR recovery work before MR allocate to prevent the warning, remove the MRs from the list to prevent the UAF.

Statement

Client-side UAF in CIFS RDMA (smbdirect) on the MR allocation failure path could crash the kernel during mount. Exploitation requires a Linux client with SMB3 over RDMA enabled and local privileges to initiate mounts. A remote server cannot reliably trigger it on its own. Impact is primarily denial of service on the client. Confidentiality and integrity are not expected to be affected. Exploitation requires local administrative privileges (root) to initiate SMB3 RDMA mounts, as unprivileged users cannot trigger the vulnerable code path.
