Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: fix possible double unlock when moving a directory
Statement
This vulnerability is classified as Moderate impact for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because triggering the flaw requires local user access and specific race conditions, limiting the blast radius primarily to a denial of service. While ext4 file systems are commonly deployed across standard installations, an unprivileged user must have permissions to rename directories within an ext4 mount to induce the locking error. The resulting kernel lock imbalance can crash the operating system or cause instability, but it does not permit remote exploitation or compromise data confidentiality.
CVSS score applicability
