Description
A race condition vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel. When AF and PF interrupts are raised at the same time in the CPU, two cores serve same event, corrupting the data.
Statement
This flaw is rated as Moderate severity because it requires specialized Marvell OCTEON TX2 hardware and local execution context to trigger the concurrency issue, preventing remote exploitation in standard deployment environments. The race condition occurs between physical and virtual function interrupt handlers on multi-core systems, potentially leading to data corruption or a kernel denial of service. Systems lacking this specific network adapter hardware are not exposed to the vulnerability.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
