Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Netfilter nf_tables subsystem. When handling table updates, the kernel improperly compares internal configuration flags rather than ignoring them. A local user could exploit this flaw by submitting specific table update requests, potentially leading to improper transaction processing and causing a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having Low severity because triggering it requires local network administration capabilities, and the flaw only leads to redundant transaction processing rather than arbitrary code execution or data leakage. In default Red Hat Enterprise Linux configurations, standard unprivileged users cannot interact with the Netfilter framework unless user namespaces are enabled. Even if triggered by a privileged local user or container administrator, the impact is confined to suboptimal handling during table reconfigurations without crashing the host.
