Description
A denial of service vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel. No input validation is performed in the Bluetooth hci_sock function. This vulnerability could lead to a crash, resulting in the loss of system availability.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate because exploitation requires local access with privileges sufficient to create Bluetooth HCI sockets, and the resulting impact is confined to a denial of service via a kernel crash rather than arbitrary code execution. Bluetooth hardware and stack services are typically not utilized in enterprise server deployments, limiting overall exposure. Systems running affected Red Hat Enterprise Linux kernels are only susceptible if the Bluetooth subsystem is active and accessible to local untrusted users.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
