Description
A flaw was found in the KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) subsystem for AMD processors in the Linux kernel. When virtual Non-Maskable Interrupt (vNMI) support is enabled, an improperly placed check causes an unexpected kernel warning when handling simultaneous interrupts that cannot be immediately delivered. A local user or guest virtual machine could trigger this condition, potentially leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) if the host kernel is configured to panic on warnings.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having a Low severity impact because triggering the condition results only in an unexpected kernel warning message without interrupting guest execution or causing host instability under default configurations. In Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the host kernel is not configured to panic on warnings by default, preventing a guest virtual machine or local user from causing a denial of service. Additionally, the issue is restricted to AMD-based virtualization environments utilizing virtual Non-Maskable Interrupt (vNMI) hardware support.
