Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/client: Fix error code in drm_client_buffer_vmap_local()
This function accidentally returns zero/success on the failure path. It leads to locking issues and an uninitialized *map_copy in the caller.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity for Red Hat because triggering the flaw requires local execution with elevated privileges, substantially limiting the threat surface. An improper error return in the Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) client buffer mapping routine can lead to lock inconsistencies or kernel memory corruption. Standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases are not affected because their kernels do not include the commit that introduced this flaw.
