Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AFS (Andrew File System) module. A local attacker with low privileges could exploit this flaw, leading to a system crash and resulting in a denial of service.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
To mitigate this issue, prevent the afs kernel module from loading. Create a file named /etc/modprobe.d/disable-afs.conf with the following content: install afs /bin/true. A system reboot is required for this change to take effect. This mitigation will prevent the use of the AFS filesystem.
