Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's block layer. When a storage disk is removed or unregistered, improper state handling fails to clear request mappings, leaving stale references to released memory. A local user with administrative privileges could exploit this use-after-free vulnerability (accessing memory after it has been released) during queue iteration to cause a kernel crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS), or potentially achieve arbitrary code execution.
Statement
This issue is considered to be a moderate impact flaw, as the exploitation for this will need an ADMIN (or ROOT) privilege (PR:H).
