Since an invalid (without '\0' byte at all) byte sequence may be passed from userspace, add an extra check to ensure that such a sequence is rejected as possible ID and so never passed to 'kstrdup()' and further.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as Moderate severity because exploitation requires local access and elevated network administrative capabilities (CAP_NET_ADMIN), or access to unprivileged user namespaces, to manipulate netfilter rules. By submitting a crafted rule with an unterminated LED identifier, an attacker can trigger an out-of-bounds memory read, potentially causing a kernel crash or exposing privileged memory. The vulnerable target is not commonly utilized in standard enterprise server environments, which significantly limits practical attack surface.
