Description

A flaw was found in vsftpd. This vulnerability allows a denial of service (DoS) via an integer overflow in the ls command parameter parsing, triggered by a remote, authenticated attacker sending a crafted STAT command with a specific byte sequence.

Statement

Moderate impact affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 streams and Fedora 42 and 43, where vsftpd is affected. A remote, authenticated attacker can send a crafted STAT command containing a specific byte sequence to trigger an integer overflow in ls command parameter parsing and an infinite loop, resulting in denial of service. The CVSS v3.1 score is 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H), consistent with the Moderate rating from both Red Hat and CVE.org. The affected entries are delegated and a fix is being pursued. The Fedora 42 and 43 entries carry unknown-component warnings in the current record. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7 entries are marked out of support, while Red Hat In-Vehicle OS is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present.
