Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ksmbd: add free_transport ops in ksmbd connection
free_transport function for tcp connection can be called from smbdirect. It will cause kernel oops. This patch add free_transport ops in ksmbd connection, and add each free_transports for tcp and smbdirect.
Statement
This vulnerability does not impact supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases as the vulnerable code is not present in Red Hat kernels. The underlying defect involves transport cleanup handling in the in-kernel SMB daemon when processing SMB Direct connections, potentially triggering an operating system crash. Enterprise deployments rely on user-space Samba services rather than the experimental in-kernel server, ensuring enterprise systems are not exposed.
