Description
A vulnerability was found in clone_private_mount in fs/namespace.c in filesystem subsystem in the Linux Kernel. This flaw could allow a local attacker to crash the system or leak kernel internal information.
Statement
clone_private_mount() lacked a ns_capable(..., CAP_SYS_ADMIN) check for the user namespace that owns the target mount namespace. A local attacker in a user/mount namespace could privately clone a mount and expose content hidden by mounts they are not allowed to undo, effectively bypassing mount policy (confidentiality impact and sometimes integrity too). This CVE does not affect RHEL 9.6 and older RHEL 9 versions.
