Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact because exploitation requires local privileges or physical access to mount a specially crafted HFS+ storage image, constraining the attack surface to scenarios where untrusted media mounting is permitted. An out-of-bounds memory read during node processing can trigger a kernel panic, causing a denial of service, or potentially lead to limited kernel memory disclosure. Modern Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases do not include this legacy filesystem driver code, substantially limiting overall risk in enterprise deployments.
