Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
io_uring/kbuf: fix signedness in this_len calculation
When importing and using buffers, buf->len is considered unsigned. However, buf->len is converted to signed int when committing. This can lead to unexpected behavior if the buffer is large enough to be interpreted as a negative value. Make min_t calculation unsigned.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated Moderate for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 as it could lead to a local privilege escalation due to a signedness error in the io_uring subsystem. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, 8, and 9 are not affected as the vulnerable code is not present in these versions. If triggered, this vulnerability can lead to integrity and availability issues, as an improperly computed this_len could lead to memory corruption, data truncation, or incorrect writes, which in turn could increase the likelihood of a crash.
CVSS score applicability
