CVE-2025-40087

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

NFSD: Define a proc_layoutcommit for the FlexFiles layout type

Avoid a crash if a pNFS client should happen to send a LAYOUTCOMMIT operation on a FlexFiles layout.

This vulnerability does not pose an operational security risk to Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments because the affected NFSD FlexFiles layout functionality is not present in supported Red Hat kernels. In upstream deployments where this pNFS layout driver is enabled, a client issuing a layout commit operation could trigger a kernel crash, resulting in a denial of service.
