Statement

A vulnerability was found in the MySQL Server Optimizer. A high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols could exploit this flaw to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash, resulting in a complete denial of service of MySQL Server; confidentiality and integrity are not impacted. This issue affects the mysql components shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10, where fixes are being pursued through Red Hat's delegated maintenance of MySQL packages, as well as the mysql packages in Fedora. MySQL in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Lifecycle Support is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in that version. Red Hat rates this flaw as Moderate severity with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.9 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H), which is consistent with the upstream Oracle assessment.
