Statement

A moderate-impact denial of service vulnerability was found in the MySQL Server "Components Services" component. The flaw is easily exploitable and allows a high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash, resulting in a complete denial of service of MySQL Server. Only availability is affected; there is no impact to confidentiality or integrity. Red Hat rates this flaw MODERATE with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.9 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H), matching the upstream Oracle severity.

The mysql and mysql8.4 packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 are affected, and fixes have been delivered for these releases through Red Hat updates. mysql in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Lifecycle Support is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in that version. Red Hat In-Vehicle OS was assessed as not affected through the delegated upstream evaluation. In Fedora, the community mysql8.0 and mysql8.4 packages are affected but their fix is deferred; releases that continue to ship an affected version remain exposed to denial of service by high privileged users until an updated package is provided.
