Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 4.9 (Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H).
Statement
A flaw of moderate severity was found in the MySQL Server DDL component of Oracle MySQL. A high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols can exploit this issue to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash, resulting in a complete denial of service of MySQL Server; confidentiality and integrity are not impacted. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 ship affected MySQL versions and are affected, with fixes pursued through the delegated resolution workflow for the mysql, mysql:8.0, and mysql:8.4 components. MySQL in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Lifecycle Support is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present. Red Hat In-Vehicle OS 1.1 is covered by a delegated not-affected determination. In Fedora, the mysql8.0 and mysql8.4 packages are affected but the fix is deferred, leaving a residual risk of denial of service by an authenticated high-privileged database user until the deferred update ships. The Red Hat impact rating (MODERATE, CVSS 3.1 score 4.9, CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H) matches the upstream Oracle assessment.
