Statement
A moderate severity vulnerability was found in the Optimizer component of the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL. An easily exploitable flaw, it allows a high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash, resulting in a complete denial of service of the MySQL server. Only availability is impacted; confidentiality and integrity are not affected (CVSS 3.1 base score 4.9, CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H). The mysql packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 are affected, and a fix is being pursued for these releases through the standard Red Hat update process. The mysql package in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Life Cycle Support is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present. The mysql packages in Fedora and Red Hat In-Vehicle OS are also tracked as affected, with handling delegated to those products' update processes. The Red Hat impact rating of Moderate is consistent with the upstream Oracle severity assessment of 4.9.
