Description
A denial of service flaw was found in MySQL. This flaw allows a privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to cause a crash in the MySQL server.
Statement
A moderate denial of service vulnerability was found in the MySQL Server Optimizer. A high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols could exploit this flaw to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash, resulting in a complete denial of service of the MySQL server; confidentiality and integrity are not impacted. Red Hat rated this flaw Moderate impact with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 4.3 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L), slightly lower than the upstream Oracle score of 4.9, reflecting differing assessments of the privileges required and the availability impact. The mysql packages as shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 are affected, and fixes are being pursued through the delegated maintenance streams. The mysql package in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Life Cycle Support is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in that version. In Fedora, the mysql8.0 and mysql8.4 packages are affected, but the community fix is deferred to a future update, so those installations remain exposed to a crash caused by a privileged attacker until updated.
