Description

Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: InnoDB). Supported versions that are affected are 8.0.0-8.0.43, 8.4.0-8.4.6 and 9.0.0-9.4.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows high privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of MySQL Server accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 5.5 (Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:H).

Statement

A moderate severity vulnerability was found in the InnoDB component of MySQL Server. A high privileged (authenticated) attacker with network access via multiple protocols could exploit this flaw to cause a complete denial of service of MySQL Server (hang or frequently repeatable crash), as well as to gain unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of the data accessible to MySQL Server. Red Hat Product Security rated this flaw Moderate, with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 5.5 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:H), consistent with the upstream Oracle severity. The mysql packages in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 are affected, and fixes are being pursued through the delegated maintainers of those components. The mysql package in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Extended Life Cycle Support is not affected because the vulnerable code is not present in that version, and the delegated maintainers assessed the mysql package in Red Hat In-Vehicle OS as not affected. In Fedora, an updated mysql8.4 package addresses this issue, while the fix for the mysql8.0 package was deferred and resolved only in Rawhide, so mysql8.0 in stable Fedora releases remains without a fix and users of that package stay exposed to the residual risk.
