Description
A flaw was found in the OpenJDK Libraries component. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability over a network by submitting crafted data to affected application programming interfaces (APIs), or through sandboxed environments that execute untrusted Java code. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to modify, insert, or delete accessible data, as well as gain unauthorized read access to sensitive information.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having Moderate impact because, while an unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger improper certificate constraint verification through exposed network services or application interfaces, the resulting impact is limited to unauthorized read or modification of a subset of application data without full host compromise or service disruption. In typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux and container environments, OpenJDK runs backend server workloads rather than untrusted client sandboxes like applets or Web Start. Consequently, exploitation is restricted to applications that directly process untrusted certificates or rely on flawed constraint validation.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
