Description

A flaw was found in the Data Definition Language (DDL) component of MySQL Server and MySQL Cluster. An authenticated attacker with high privileges and network access can exploit this vulnerability to cause the server to hang or crash repeatedly. This flaw primarily results in a complete denial of service (DoS) for the database service.

Statement

This vulnerability is evaluated as having a Moderate impact for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because exploitation requires an attacker to already possess high-level administrative privileges to execute Data Definition Language (DDL) operations. In typical enterprise environments, database access is restricted to authenticated accounts and schema modification privileges are constrained to trusted roles. Although triggering this flaw can disrupt service availability by causing the database daemon to hang or terminate, the prerequisite for elevated permissions significantly narrows exposure.
