Description
A flaw was found in the Client programs component of MySQL. This issue may allow an attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and/or availability of MySQL Server depending on the vulnerability details. Refer to the Oracle CPU advisory for component-specific impact.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Important for Red Hat environments because unauthenticated remote attackers can induce a total denial of service against the MySQL server without requiring privileges or user interaction. While standard deployments usually restrict database listening ports to internal networks or localhost, exposed instances face complete service unavailability through process hangs or crashes. The lack of authentication prerequisites and severe impact on service availability warrant an Important rather than Moderate rating, though confidentiality and integrity remain unaffected.
