Description
A flaw was found in the audit component of MySQL. An authenticated remote attacker with low privileges can exploit this vulnerability over the network across multiple protocols. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the database service.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact because an attacker must possess authenticated database credentials to trigger the denial of service, and successful exploitation does not compromise data confidentiality or integrity. In typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, database servers are deployed in isolated network tiers with restricted client access, limiting external exposure. Impact is confined to service availability for instances where untrusted users possess database access and the audit functionality is engaged.
