Description
A flaw was found in the MySQL Server replication component. An unauthenticated remote attacker with network access could exploit this vulnerability to create, delete, or modify critical database data. A successful attack can also lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) by causing the server to hang or repeatedly crash.
Statement
Red Hat Product Security rates this vulnerability as Important because an unauthenticated network adversary can alter database records or disrupt service availability, despite the elevated attack complexity involved. In standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments, MySQL is not accessible to public networks by default and requires explicit configuration for remote access or replication clustering. Consequently, systems running in isolated environments or configurations where network traffic to replication endpoints is restricted face lower practical exposure.
