Description

A flaw was found in the MySQL security encryption component. A remote attacker with high privileges can exploit this vulnerability over network protocols to cause the service to hang or crash repeatedly, resulting in a complete Denial of Service (DoS). Additionally, successful exploitation can allow unauthorized read access to a subset of data accessible to the server.

Statement

This vulnerability is rated as having Moderate impact because exploitation demands high-level administrative privileges over network protocols, which restricts the potential threat to authenticated users rather than arbitrary remote actors. Furthermore, supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux releases are not affected as the vulnerable encryption codebase is not included in the distributed MySQL packages.

CVSS score applicability

The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
