Description
A flaw was found in chromium-browser. An uninitialized resource in the ANGLE (Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine) component leads to information disclosure. Statement
An information disclosure flaw of IMPORTANT severity was found in the ANGLE (Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine) graphics translation layer. The vulnerability is caused by an uninitialized resource in ANGLE: a remote attacker can exploit it by convincing a user to open a specially crafted HTML page, which allows the attacker to read memory outside the browser sandbox and disclose confidential information. Red Hat scored this flaw 7.4 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N, IMPORTANT), reflecting a high confidentiality impact from reading memory across the browser sandbox security boundary; this is higher than the external CISA score of 4.7 (MODERATE), which assesses a lower confidentiality impact. Upstream Google rated the corresponding Chrome issue High. Within the Red Hat portfolio, the chromium-browser package in Fedora and EPEL is affected, as are the WebKitGTK components that include the affected ANGLE code: webkit2gtk3 in RHEL 8 and RHEL 9, webkitgtk3 and webkitgtk4 in RHEL 7 ELS, and webkitgtk in Fedora and EPEL. Other Red Hat products, including firefox, thunderbird, and mozjs60, are not affected. Fixes for the affected products are being pursued.
