Description
A flaw was found in krb5. An authenticated remote attacker can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending specially crafted forwarded credentials containing mismatched credential entries. This improper handling triggers a null pointer dereference, causing the service to crash and become unavailable.
Statement
Red Hat Product Security has rated this vulnerability as Moderate severity because exploitation requires an attacker to be an authenticated Kerberos client, limiting the attack surface to valid domain users. Services utilizing GSS-API for authentication on Red Hat Enterprise Linux can be terminated abnormally if a client transmits malformed delegated credential data, resulting in a denial of service for the target daemon. However, the flaw does not facilitate arbitrary code execution, privilege escalation, or unauthorized disclosure of confidential system data.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
