Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU (amdgpu) driver. A local user could exploit this vulnerability to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by crashing the system. This issue occurs because the display panic handler attempts to dereference a null pointer when running configurations that do not support atomic modesetting.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Low severity because it requires local access on systems configured with specific AMD graphics adapters that operate under non-atomic modesetting. The issue is restricted to the display panic handler during error states and cannot be used to leak sensitive data or escalate administrative privileges. Typical enterprise environments do not rely on legacy non-atomic modesetting configurations, limiting practical exposure across standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments.
