Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's wlcore Wi-Fi driver. This vulnerability involves an improper handling of a locking mechanism, specifically the wl->mutex. This can lead to system instability or unexpected behavior. The issue was identified by a thread-safety analyzer.
Statement
This affects systems using the wlcore stack (for example TI WiLink). Wireless drivers sit on the networking boundary; locking defects deserve conservative triage even when exploitation is uncertain. Impact is mainly reliability and possible local denial of service if the bad path is hit.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
To mitigate this issue, prevent the wlcore or device-specific wlan module from being loaded if the hardware is not required. See https://access.redhat.com/solutions/41278 for instructions.
