Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's memory management for the arm64 architecture. The kernel incorrectly processes invalid large leaf mappings, which are specific entries used to manage system memory. This vulnerability can be triggered by a local user or a guest operating system, leading to a kernel panic and a denial of service, making the system unavailable.
Statement
Moderate impact reflects that this vulnerability is restricted to 64-bit ARM architectures executing specific memory management operations and results exclusively in a denial of service. Under standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments, triggering the condition requires local privileges or execution within a specialized confidential computing guest. The flaw disrupts system availability via a kernel crash but does not compromise system integrity or confidentiality.
