Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's drm/amdgpu module. A local user could exploit this vulnerability by providing excessively large input values to the amdgpu_userq_signal_ioctl function. This lack of proper input validation can lead to an Out-Of-Memory (OOM) condition, causing a Denial of Service (DoS) on the affected system.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate impact for Red Hat Enterprise Linux because exploitation requires local access with privileges to interact with the AMD GPU device node, limiting the blast radius to a system denial of service. Systems are only exposed if AMD graphics hardware is present and the amdgpu kernel module is loaded. Environments without AMD GPU hardware or where direct access to Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) interfaces is restricted are not susceptible to this flaw.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
Mitigation
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
