Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel. This vulnerability, located in the drm/amdgpu/userq component, involves improper handling of memory mappings. A local attacker could potentially exploit a race condition during queue creation, where a memory object is unmapped while another is being assigned to the same address. This could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive memory, potentially resulting in information disclosure or system instability.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated Moderate rather than Important because exploitation requires local access, specific AMD GPU hardware, and precise timing to win a race condition while establishing user queues. In typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, systems lacking AMD graphics adapters or running headless configurations do not load or expose the affected driver functionality. If successfully triggered by an authenticated local user on machines equipped with compatible AMD devices, the flaw can disrupt system availability or lead to memory corruption.
