Description
A flaw was found in the NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Windows kernel module. A local attacker with basic user privileges can trigger an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the driver. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution, escalate privileges, tamper with data, or cause a Denial of Service (DoS).
Statement
Moderate severity is assigned to this flaw because successful exploitation requires local authenticated access with high attack complexity on a host running the affected driver. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not affected as the issue is isolated to NVIDIA's Windows kernel driver codebase. Consequently, supported Red Hat platforms and Linux installations do not contain the vulnerable code.
CVSS score applicability
The CVSS score(s) listed for this vulnerability do not reflect the associated product's status, and are included for informational purposes to better understand the severity of this vulnerability.
