Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU (amdgpu) driver. When allocating a Graphics Address Remapping Table (GART), the memory was not properly initialized. This could allow a local attacker to potentially access uninitialized memory, leading to information disclosure or unexpected system behavior due to the GPU using stale data from its Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB).
Statement
This vulnerability is rated as having an Important impact because a local user with access to the graphics subsystem could achieve arbitrary kernel memory corruption or leak sensitive host memory. In typical Red Hat Enterprise Linux server environments, systems lack discrete AMD graphics hardware or operate headless, meaning the affected driver is not loaded and exposure is minimal. Workstation, compute, or desktop deployments with active AMD graphics hardware are exposed if unprivileged users have access to direct rendering nodes.
