Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's PowerPC architecture implementation. This issue allows a local user to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) through an unexpected system crash. When the kernel processes machine check exceptions in real mode, it improperly attempts to access preemption tracking data that is inaccessible in that execution context. This improper access results in an invalid memory read, triggering a kernel panic.
