Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's drm/amdgpu component, which manages AMD graphics hardware. When the graphics driver is unloaded, it may fail to properly release a memory resource. This oversight can lead to system instability if the driver attempts to reload, causing an error that prevents the graphics hardware from functioning correctly. A local attacker could potentially trigger this issue, leading to a denial of service where the graphics capabilities become unavailable.
Statement
This issue affects systems using the AMDGPU driver. On unload, aperture PAT mappings may not be unmapped, leaving orphaned entries that break driver reload and discovery. Systems without AMD GPUs are not affected.
