Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's radio-si476x media driver. During the device probing process, if certain initialization steps fail, the v4l2_device may not be properly unregistered. This oversight can lead to a resource leak, specifically a persistent parent device reference. A local attacker could potentially exploit this to cause a denial of service by exhausting system resources.

Statement

This issue affects Silicon Labs si476x radio. v4l2_device registered before controls/video device; probe fail leaves registered device. Systems without si476x radio are not affected.
