Description
A flaw was found in the drm/amdgpu/sdma7.0 component of the Linux kernel. This vulnerability could lead to a kernel crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). The issue was caused by an improper use of BUG_ON() which has been replaced with WARN_ON() to prevent system instability.
Statement
This vulnerability is rated with a Low impact because exploitation requires local access and is strictly limited to systems equipped with compatible AMD graphics hardware, resulting only in a localized denial of service rather than code execution or privilege escalation. The issue occurs when the driver halts the operating system unnecessarily rather than logging an internal warning during an anomalous condition within the DMA engine. Most enterprise server installations lack the required physical GPU hardware, significantly reducing the exposure of typical Red Hat deployments.
